Chiropractic

While we very much believe in preventative care, we also understand that a patient is unlikely to seek medical help unless a specific condition or symptom is present. Whether our patients are here for preventative measures or because of an acute condition, the whole health analysis and treatment are necessary to keep all components of the body working harmoniously.

The whole health analysis and treatment begins with a full consultation and examination. Dr. Frisina has remarkable diagnostic skills, helping her to find the root of most symptoms or trouble areas. The initial examination may include x-rays depending upon the nature of the symptoms. In any case, we will find what the true cause of the ailment is, allowing us to proceed safely with treatment.

A few of the conditions we specialize in include:

  • Neck pain
  • Lower back pain
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Radiating pain in the arms and legs
  • Numbness and tingling in the hands and feet
  • Disc herniation
  • Sciatica
  • Sacro-iliac pain
  • Scoliosis
  • Carpel tunnel syndrome
  • Shoulder, Knee and/or Hip pain
  • Whiplash
  • TMJ (jaw) pain
  • Rib and mid back pain

Activator

Dr. Frisina is the only Advanced Certified Activator Methods practitioner in Springfield, IL. The Activator Method is one of the most widely researched chiropractic techniques and the only instrument adjusting technique with clinical trials to support its efficacy. It is gentle, low-force approach to chiropractic care. The technique has been used safely on patients of all ages since the late 1960’s, bringing relief to people with a variety of health concerns.

How does it work? The technique uses specific protocols to detect spinal joint dysfunction, analyze leg length inequality, identify issues with body mechanics and test neurological reflexes. By the analysis results the Activator doctor can initiate the process of restoring spinal balance in the patient, gently and effectively. The Activator instrument provides a controlled, precise, fast thrust and accurate adjustment that is comfortable for the patient. In fact, most of our patients prefer it to other chiropractic techniques of “popping” and “cracking” of the bones. There is no twisting of the spine either, so our patients normally lay down, in a relaxed state for their treatment.

Our Wellness Center is pleased to bring you the benefits of Activator Method Chiropractic Technique through an Advanced Rated Doctor. By restoring spinal balance, chiropractor care aids the body in healing itself. As your partner in health care, we are committed to your good health and wellness.

Therapies

Electrical Muscle Stimulation: This type of therapy is the application of electrical stimulation to a specific area. Nerve and muscle stimulation can be useful in any disorder in which the patient has lost or never had adequate voluntary control over skeletal muscle. Electrical current applied through the skin into the soft tissues (muscles) or to peripheral nerves to control pain, assist in muscle coordination, reduce muscle spasms, reorganize newly formed collagen tissue, reduce inflammation and enhance soft tissue healing. Mechanical Traction: This therapy is where a slight force is gently used to create a degree of tension in the soft tissues and/or to allow for separation between joint surfaces. The degree of traction is controlled through the amount of force allowed, duration of time, and angle of pull using mechanical means. Traction can provide increased mobilization and more flexibility to each spinal joint. This action also helps reduce adhesions in the spinal joints, thus decreasing the stiffness of arthritis.

Massage Therapy: This therapy is where manual pressure is applied to soft tissues including effleurage, petrissage and tapotement (stroking, compression, and percussion) to reduce muscle spasm, decrease stiffness, increase lymphatic and vascular circulation, and increase tissue healing

Rehab Level 1: This type of therapy combines the basics of simple active or passive range of motion and gentle stretching. Home stretching program education and integration is to be initiated. Stretching will be done within the patient’s tolerance and up to, but not exceeding, the patient’s pain threshold. Home stretching programs are utilized with a general set and repetition guideline.
